In 2004, the Temporary Travel Office led a small group on a tour of the Chicago
Technology Park, a 56 acre "science incubator" within the much larger (560
acre) Illinois Medical District, the State of Illinois' largest biotechnology
and medical complex.
The Travel Office's tour of the Chicago
Technology Park focused on the city's (then)
current investment in the "new
economy" within the historical, and ongoing, practices of social
engineering through urban planning. A story of spatial
eugenics was made evident as we visited the campus, especially as we were
escorted away from the sidewalk in front of one company's headquarters.
Neither the Travel Office nor this tour represent the Chicago Technology Park,
the Illinois Medical District
Commission, or any affiliated
government or private entities.
